How long will it take to resolve my personal injury case?
Transcript
The timeline to get a personal injury case resolved can vary. Sometimes it can be as simple as sending out a letter to Defense Counsel and settling your case before you ever file a complaint. That can take weeks, days. Sometimes personal injury cases can take years because it can be a long process. At first you have to file your pleadings, your complaint, you have to list out everything that’s happened. Then, typically, you go through what’s called discovery and now that’s a process that could take months and months and months where information is shared between the plaintiff side and the defense side that can take a long time. There’s dispositive motions, which means that there’s motions thought by both sides that could potentially end your case. And so an answer as to how long it typically takes. It could take anywhere from weeks, months, but typically it takes roughly around a year maybe longer than that and the goal for all plaintiffs attorneys is to not have it take a year but we’d like for it to end as soon as possible. But the reality is that a lot of these cases can take upwards of a year. So if you have a personal injury case feel free, please contact the attorneys at Bailey Javins & Carter.
